How can you be absolutely silent about the testimony of Jesus?

‘They conquered him completely through the blood of the Lamb and the powerful word of his testimony. They triumphed because they did not love and cling to their own lives, even when faced with death.’ Revelation 12:11 TPT

It’s surprising how when we hear some the the world’s most inspiring ‘rag to riches’ or “started from the bottom” stories, we are moved to tears, and even motivated to take action knowing that we too can do it. But what about the story of Jesus? The most powerful testimony there is.

A man who didn’t quit when they called him a heretic. He did not quit so you can have your story to tell. Imagine a people that had been waiting for decades for your coming only to reject you when you appear right before them. How absurd is that. How would you respond if you had been in Jesus’ shoes? I can assure you many of us would have run off after the first encounter with the Pharisees.

The power of the testimony of Jesus Christ

Today’s encouragement comes from a song I recently listened to by Amy Grant and Ellie Holcomb titled “A woman”. The song chronicles Jesus’ death and resurrection from the perspective of Mary Magdalena. We know that Mary had been delivered from seven demons and was the first to discover that Jesus had risen from Matthews account. She could have easily discredited herself based on her past, or who society said she was, but she didn’t stay silent. She ran off to tell the disciples because the Jesus she had encountered, the same one who had delivered her, was alive.

How can you and I not speak in such a scenario? How can we stay silent at all? I want you to know you are enough. You are exactly who God needs for the assignment. You have a story to tell and nothing or no-one should stop you. After all who said spiritual gifts are gender specific. Who said you have to be a certain race, or color to be heard. Society’s bias should not stop the work God wants to do through you.

As we transition into a new normal, its easy to get distracted by the process of our adaptability to life in a world that was once plagued with a pandemic. But let us not forget the mandate we have as believers, which is to go and speak the good news of Jesus Christ. Speak of what you have seen, heard, and experienced. For if you love your neighbor as yourself, you’d certainly want them to experience what you have, which is the freedom and hope that comes with the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The advantage we have as believers.

What has God done in your life that is worth testifying? What revelation of God can you share with the world? Is it healing from chronic pain? An opportunity that came your way when you least expected it? Maybe financial breakthrough? Marital breakthrough? Mercy where you should have been punished? For all you know, your miracle can simply be in your testimony, which is the faithful testimony of Jesus that has the power to destroy the works of the devil. Whatever power of the risen Christ you have experienced about the death of Jesus Christ, preach it. Tell the world.
