“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” Matthew 6:34 MSG.

How often are we concerned with what we want in our future that we miss what God is doing now? A single woman’s desire may be marriage today, and once married her attention shifts to having babies, then buying a house, etc. Whilst, young graduate’s priority may be getting a job. When employed, s/he discovers they would rather be in business.

How many times have we missed answered prayers, destiny helpers, or even opportunities that could change the trajectory of our lives simply because our focus has been on tomorrow rather than today? God does not want us to live in the past, nor does he encourage us to live in the future. This does not mean you stop hoping for a better tomorrow, but the future we hope for comes from the decisions we make today.

Earlier in chapter six of the book of Matthew, as Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, He talks about asking God for the specific need for that day. Not tomorrow, but today. The only way you can get the tomorrow you desire is to plan for it and walk by faith in the decisions you make today. God has blessings assigned to each day and each season, and the only way we can recognize them is to give our full attention to Him as in taking one day at a time.
